ADPi's Roadmap to Sorority Recruitment

Updated: Sep 3, 2018

As the beginning of the school year approaches, I could not be more excited to be back on campus with my sisters once again. It’s crazy for me to think of where I was at this time last year. I was basically putting my entire life into plastic storage totes, last minute ordering everything from PB Teen, and saying goodbye to all of my high school best friends. I couldn’t help but feel a sense of sadness combined with an overwhelming sense of joy to start my new adventure.

My first few weeks on campus were busy, busy, busy! Balancing a brand new course load coupled with making new friends and joining organizations, I felt like I never had a minute to myself. Despite all this craziness, I was so excited to go through sorority recruitment.

Sorority recruitment is an opportunity to create new friendships and establish an everlasting sisterhood. Here are a few tips for going into sorority recruitment as a potential new member:

  1. Be yourself. Sounds easy enough, right? This definitely won’t be the last time you read or hear this statement in regards to recruitment because it is SO important! Be the most authentic version of yourself and everything else will fall into place.

  2. Get a good night’s sleep. Make sure that you are taking take of yourself during recruitment. There are definitely going to be long days and nights, but staying well-rested and giving your body the proper nutrition it needs, you will definitely will be able to stay energized throughout the week!

  3. Go into recruitment with an open mind. This will make the process so much easier. Every sorority at Florida Southern has so much to offer.

  4. Use your Rho Gamma! They are there to help you through this process. If you have questions or concerns throughout the week, talk to your Rho Gamma!

  5. Before recruitment begins, start thinking about your values. At Florida Southern, we pride ourselves on having a values-based recruitment. This means that values are the most important characteristic we look at; it’s not about what you wear, where you come from, or how many followers you have.

We are SO excited to meet y’all in just a few short days! Remember to enjoy all of the experiences that college has to offer. The recruitment countdown starts now!
